About Ierapetra Dogshelter

The shelter belongs to the city of Ierapetra. Dogs living there have either been found abandoned, as strays or have been given away by their owners. This site exists to make them visible to a greater amount of humans, because for way too long they have been living unvisible to most of us. The one who built this site, got to know about the shelter by a local vet when she was visiting Crete. The first time she went to the shelter only the dogs were there and they left a deep imprint on her heart. The next day she was so lucky to meet a lovely volunteer and the following day she was allowed to enter for the first time and meet her now dear friend Elena, who's volunteering at the shelter, too. Since then she took 2 dogs from the shelter, one fosterfailed and one found her perfect forever-humans. As all of them deserve loving homes so much, this site exists to help them find their humans.

Our Vision

We believe that as humans it is our responsibility to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. As dogs, like other animals, have the same feelings  humans have, the dogs of this shelter should spend their lifes in other places: good loving homes. As they are all different, as humans are, we know that there's a nut for every bolt, so come around and find your's!

That's our vision.
